Mountain Mixer Cocktail Contest

After weeks of rigorous tasting and evaluation, Park City's most spirited contest culminated on August 21 with ten of the town's top mixologists competing live in the 2025 Mountain Mixer Cocktail Contest. The journey to the finals began in July, with a secret panel of judges visiting bars across Park City to sample over 20 original cocktails crafted by local bartenders. The judging process involved quiet, anonymous sips without any formal scoresheets or prior notice. After careful deliberation, ten exceptional cocktails were chosen for the live competition.

The finale was anything but subdued. Floor-to-ceiling windows at Silver Lake Lodge framed the stage, packed with spectators, flashing cameras, twin bar stations, and music by DJ Dolph. The drinks were not the only things with personality.

From Katelyn Fraser’s nostalgic tea-inspired Nebbia to Charles Vincent Franco’s tropical Filipino dessert homage in Ube Halo, the cocktails showcased culture, history, and creativity. Competitors delivered stories, spills, and style in equal measure, earning cheers from the crowd and feedback from the judges.

AJ Anderson of Handle claimed the top prize with his cocktail, “Melt”-a thoughtful combination of whiskey and rum built around a frozen tropical juice cube that slowly melted into the drink. As time passed, the cocktail evolved in flavor, making each sip more complex than the last. Beyond the drinks, Mountain Mixer highlighted the strength of Park City’s hospitality scene-the people behind the bar who not only craft great cocktails but create memorable experiences.

Thank you to everyone who came out to sip, cheer, and vote.
